Enhancing Profitability in a Peruvian Construction Company: A Lean Manufacturing and Human Resources Approach

Abstract

En esta investigación se desarrolla un modelo que integra herramientas de Lean Manufacturing y Recursos Humanos, tales como Just In Time, Total Productive Maintenence, Standard Work y One point Lesson, las cuales permitieron identificar la baja rentabilidad y productividad de una empresa mype en el sector de construcción. Gracias a la aplicación de este modelo se ha podido obtener un impacto favorable tanto cuantitativamente como cualitativamente a mediano y largo plazo. Al utilizar la herramienta JIT, se logró reducir los tiempos de entrega de los materiales en campo. Con la aplicación de la herramienta TPM se pudo lograr una mejora significativa en el desempeño de los equipos y una reducción en los tiempos de inactividad no planificados. La herramienta SW nos permitió crear un proceso estandarizado para el correcto uso de las máquinas y así reducir costos de reparación de maquinaria. Con la herramienta OPL pudimos validar los principales sistemas operativos a inspeccionar de las maquinarias para así optimizar el funcionamiento de éstas. Y finalmente la herramienta de Recursos humanos se logró reducir la tasa de rotación de personal a través de un programa de incentivos. Como resultado final, el ratio de rentabilidad se incrementó en un 4.2% y el tiempo de entrega de materiales se redujo a un promedio de 7 días.

In this research, a model is developed that integrates Lean Manufacturing and Human Resources tools, such as Just in time, Total Productive Maintenence, Standard Work and One point Lesson, which made it possible to identify the low profitability and productivity of a Mype company in the sector. of construction. Thanks to the application of this model, it has been possible to obtain a favorable impact both quantitatively and qualitatively in the medium and long term. By using the JIT tool, it was possible to reduce delivery times of materials in the field. With the application of the TPM tool, a significant improvement in equipment performance and a reduction in unplanned downtime could be achieved. The SW tool allowed us to create a standardized process for the correct use of machines and thus reduce machinery repair costs. With the OPL tool we were able to validate the main operating systems of the machinery to be inspected in order to optimize their operation. And finally, the Human Resources tool was able to reduce the staff turnover rate through an incentive program. As a final result, the profitability ratio increased by 4.2% and the material delivery time was reduced to an average of 7 days.
