En el dinámico y competitivo mercado peruano, las empresas enfrentan el desafío de la globalización y la rápida evolución de las preferencias de los consumidores, lo que exige una gestión estratégica rigurosa y una capacidad de innovación continua. El desarrollo e introducción de nuevos productos es un factor decisivo para el crecimiento empresarial.
El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar cómo la planificación en la etapa inicial del desarrollo de nuevos productos y factores como el tamaño de la empresa, la gestión y los procesos asociados influyen en el éxito y la participación en el mercado de los nuevos productos.
Para ello, se realizó un estudio con un diseño no experimental y de corte transversal, con un enfoque cuantitativo. Se analizaron 210 empresas de Lima y Callao, Perú, mediante un Análisis Factorial Exploratorio (AFE) y un Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio (AFA), a través de un Modelo de Ecuaciones Estructurales (SEM) y un dendrograma que utiliza un enlace de Ward con distancia euclidiana al cuadrado, con lo que se encontraron tres clústeres o perfiles de empresas.
El principal aporte de esta investigación es que proporciona un marco teórico y recomendaciones prácticas para las empresas en el Perú. Se concluye que las empresas que reportan más éxito son aquellas que realizaron una buena evaluación inicial, incluyendo procesos de innovación. El estudio también demuestra que el éxito del lanzamiento de un nuevo producto depende del tamaño de la empresa, la gestión y los procesos asociados, siendo las empresas maduras (especialmente las grandes) las que tienen más probabilidades de éxito debido a sus procesos establecidos y su orientación al mercado. The objective of this research is to analyze how initial-stage planning in new product development, along with factors such as company size, management, and associated processes, influence the success and market performance of new products.
To achieve this, a non-experimental, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach was conducted. A total of 210 companies from Lima and Callao, Peru, were analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), through a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) framework and a dendrogram based on Ward’s linkage method with squared Euclidean distance, which identified three clusters or company profiles. The main contribution of this research is the provision of a theoretical framework and practical recommendations for companies in Peru. The findings indicate that the most successful companies are those that conducted a thorough initial evaluation, including innovation processes.
The study also demonstrates that the success of a new product launch depends on company size, management, and associated processes, with mature companies—particularly large ones—being more likely to succeed due to their established procedures and market orientation.
