Logistic process improvement of applying SLP, 5S, and Slotting in the main warehouse of a hydroelectric power plant
Resumen
This article focuses on improving the logistic process in the main warehouse of a hydroelectric power plant by applying three methodologies in a case study: SLP, 5S, and Slotting. SLP is used to design an optimal warehouse, considering factors such as picking speed and organization. The 5S methodology is applied to increase the utility of the warehouse by improving efficiency and reducing product search time. Lastly, the Slotting method is used to enhance warehouse management by optimizing product placement and reducing picking time. A diagnostic of the case study was conducted, analyzing variables and root causes. Subsequently, the methodologies were implemented, and the results were evaluated. The results showed a significant improvement in warehouse efficiency and productivity. Product search time was reduced, organization was improved, and product placement was optimized, reducing the space used by 26%. Additionally, picking time was reduced by 40%, and warehouse management was enhanced. In summary, this article demonstrates the importance of applying methodologies such as SLP, 5S, and Slotting to improve efficiency and productivity in warehouse management. These methodologies can be applied in different industries or similar sectors to optimize logistic processes and enhance the profitability of companies.
