Service model based on Lean Manufacturing, SLP and Process Standardization to increase the service level of an SME in the metal-mechanic sector
Abstract
SMEs in the metal-mechanic industry in Peru play a crucial role in the development of the country's economy due to their relationship with various industries providing intermediate and final goods, as well as their contribution to employment generation; however, Peruvian SMEs have several operational restrictions. Faced with this problem of lack of techniques and work strategies applied to SMEs in the metal mechanic sector, the question arises as to the possibility of achieving an improvement in their OTIF in a competitive market. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to improve the attention times of a project in an SME of this sector with respect to a specific production line, through simulations in Arena and pilot tests. To achieve the proposed objective, a 3-stage methodology is proposed: Analysis of the current situation, development of tools and implementation and evaluation of indicators, where the Lean Five "S" and Poka-Yoke tools are applied, the standardization of the quality process (ISO 9001) and the SLP analysis. From the research, it could be concluded that by improving the layout of the factory, implementing quality procedures and improving the organization of tools, an increase of 39.29% in the OTIF was achieved; that is, from 53.57%, 92.86% was achieved.
