Centro de Interpretación del Mar en el litoral costero de Chimbote

Abstract

El desarrollo industrial en la ciudad de Chimbote, impulsado principalmente por las industrias pesqueras y manufactureras, ha tenido un impacto significativo en la calidad de vida de la población. A lo largo del tiempo, ha surgido un creciente rechazo hacia la zona marina que bordea la ciudad, considerando el malecón como un límite que separa las actividades diarias de la ciudad del mar. La propuesta arquitectónica presentada en esta investigación busca establecer una conexión entre la vida urbana y la naturaleza marina. Su objetivo es fusionar la funcionalidad del edificio con la escenografía proporcionada por el entorno marino, revitalizando al mismo tiempo un terreno abandonado en armonía con la topografía de Chimbote. La esencia del edificio reside en su diseño, que busca satisfacer las necesidades prácticas de la comunidad local y fomentar la interacción social. Se vale de elementos que realzan el paisaje costero, ofreciendo una sensación de inmersión en el entorno marino sin renunciar a las comodidades urbanas. La arquitectura del edificio se adapta a la costa, estableciendo un flujo fluido entre los espacios interiores y exteriores. Las vistas panorámicas al mar refuerzan la coexistencia entre lo humano y lo natural, proporcionando una experiencia única. Este edificio no solo cumple con su función práctica, sino que también se convierte en un vehículo para la reactivación cultural y social del malecón, restaurando su papel histórico en la ciudad. Representa un punto de encuentro donde la actividad humana y el entorno natural se entrelazan de manera armoniosa. En última instancia, el diseño del edificio contribuye a la revitalización física y cultural de una costa previamente deteriorada, configurando una relación más positiva y enriquecedora entre la ciudad y el mar.

The drastic integration of fishing and manufacturing industries in the city of Chimbote has significantly impacted the quality of life in the city. Over time, there has been a growing rejection from the population towards the marine area that forms its coastline, considering the waterfront (or where it should be) as a boundary or edge for the city’s daily activities or relationships with the sea. The architectural building proposed in this research aims to create a connection between urban life and the marine environment by merging the functionality of the building with the scenic backdrop of the marine surroundings. Additionally, it revitalizes an abandoned site with a design integrated into Chimbote’s topography. Its essence lies in a design suitable to meet the practical needs of the community where it is located and to foster social interaction. It uses elements that elevate the coastal landscape, providing a sense of immersion in the marine environment along with urban comforts. The building molds its architecture in response to the coast, establishing a flow between interior and exterior spaces, panoramic views of the sea, enhancing human and natural coexistence. Furthermore, it transcends its function, serving as a vehicle for the cultural and social revitalization of the waterfront, restoring its historical role. Finally, the building represents a meeting point where human activity and the natural environment intertwine. Its design supports the physical and cultural revitalization of a deteriorated coast, shaping a better relationship between the city and the sea.
