Residencia universitaria con servicios complementarios en el Centro Histórico de Lima

Abstract

One of the most influential factors in the progress of individuals and societies is education. Higher education is the key to the development of the country. In Peru, many young people from different regions are forced to move to the capital, as 40% of universities are located in Lima alone. However, only 2 of the 57 universities have university residences, which is insufficient to meet the high demand for student accommodation. This situation is particularly difficult for students who already face the challenge of living away from their families and who do not have sufficient resources to find affordable accommodation, increasing their chances of dropping out. In light of the above, NODOS was born. It is a university residence project in the Historic Center of Lima that aims to fill this gap by providing students with an appropriate environment and the necessary resources. NODOS not only offers accommodation, but also complementary spaces that support the academic and social development of students. Despite its great historical and tourist importance, the Historic Center of Lima has suffered from deterioration, unsafety and a loss of attractiveness. The revitalization of this area is of paramount importance. Therefore, this project aims to improve the current conditions and promote heritage conservation. NODOS seeks to establish itself as an urban hub, merging academic and social services for the benefit of both students and the local community. Educational and urban development will benefit from the proximity of several universities and improved infrastructure. This approach will not only meet the needs of the students but also contribute to the revitalization of the Historic Center of Lima, thereby improving the quality of life and enhancing the attractiveness of this emblematic area of the city. The project is expected to serve as a replicable model for other parts of the city.

Uno de los factores que más influyen en el progreso de las personas y sociedades es la educación. La educación superior es clave para el desarrollo del país. En Perú, el 40% de las universidades se concentran solo en Lima, lo que obliga a muchos jóvenes de distintas regiones a trasladarse a la capital. Sin embargo, de las 57 universidades presentes, solo 2 cuentan con residencias universitarias, número insuficientes para satisfacer la alta demanda de alojamiento estudiantil. Esta situación es especialmente difícil para los estudiantes que ya enfrentan el desafío de vivir lejos de sus familias y que no cuentan con los recursos suficientes para encontrar alojamiento accesible, lo que aumenta sus probabilidades de deserción. En respuesta a ello nace NODOS, un proyecto de residencia universitaria en el Centro Histórico de Lima que busca abordar esta carencia proporcionando un entorno adecuado y los recursos necesarios para los estudiantes. NODOS no solo ofrece alojamiento, sino también espacios complementarios que apoyan el desarrollo académico y social de los estudiantes. El Centro Histórico de Lima, de gran importancia histórica y turística, ha sufrido deterioro, inseguridad y una disminución en su atractivo. La revitalización de esta área es fundamental, y el proyecto se plantea como una intervención para mejorar las condiciones actuales y fomentar la conservación del patrimonio. NODOS se propone ser un corazón urbano, combinando servicios académicos y sociales que beneficiarán tanto a los estudiantes como a la comunidad local. La proximidad a varias universidades y la mejora en la infraestructura contribuirán al desarrollo educativo y urbano. Este enfoque no solo atenderá las necesidades de los estudiantes, sino que también promoverá la revitalización del Centro Histórico de Lima, mejorando la calidad de vida y el atractivo de esta zona emblemática de la ciudad. Se espera que el proyecto sirva como un modelo replicable en otras partes de la ciudad.
