Integrated Lean Warehouse - DDMRP Model to Reduce Non-Fulfillment of On-Time Deliveries at the Metalworking Company U.S. ITEM S.A

Abstract
The metalworking sector contributes 11.2% to the manufacturing sector and represents 1.4% of the national GDP. The trade within this sector grew by 21.6% in 2022; for this reason, the following article is based on the import and commercialization of metallurgical products by U.S. ITEM S.A., located in Lima, Peru. The importance of the service level is crucial for generating optimal profitability as it reduces costs associated with non-compliance; therefore, it is essential to properly plan requirements, warehouse order, and correct execution in order preparation. For this reason, the study was conducted in the warehouse area of the Chesterton product line. The application of 5S, SLP, ABC Classification, EOQ, and MRP tools was proposed to improve the on-time delivery (OTD) indicator, which due to insufficient warehouse management stands at 64.53%. By implementing a pilot plan and performing a simulation in Arena, in addition to generating a simulated model applying hypothesis analysis, the improvement of the OTD indicator by 12.58% was verified with the proposed model. © 2024 IEEE.
