Improvement proposal to increase the level of service by applying Lean Manufacturing tools in SMEs in the textile sector in Peru
Resumen
The Peruvian economy is sustained by several industries. The textile industry is an area that generates a high impact on it, in addition to generating many jobs. However, nowadays the customer is more demanding, so companies are committed to improving their products. As a result, there is a gap between companies and the market. Currently, they have experienced low efficiency in the companies' processes related to the level of service, non-fulfillment of orders and defective products. As a result, opportunities for improvement generate a waste of resources. This article presents a technical proposal that leverages Lean Manufacturing principles, specifically Poka-Yoke and Kanban tools, alongside established Quality Policies, to enhance service level performance. Utilizing data collected from the case study company, Arena software was employed to simulate both the current operational state and a proposed improved scenario. Through this simulation, a demonstrably significant 15% improvement in service level rate was achieved. Finally, the contribution of this study can help other companies related to the textile sector regarding the application of Lean Manufacturing tools together with Quality Policies achieving a better management of resources. © 2024 IEEE.
