Museo de Arte Visual Contemporáneo

Abstract

La presente investigación se enfoca en comprender la situación actual de los museos de arte en el ámbito nacional, con especial atención en la ciudad de Lima. Se busca identificar la infraestructura cultural existente y explorar el potencial de añadir un nuevo programa en este sector para impulsar tanto el aspecto cultural como turístico de la ciudad. A nivel global, y especialmente en comparación con otras importantes urbes de América Latina, se observa una cierta cantidad de infraestructuras culturales que incluyen museos, salas de exposición, teatros y estadios. Sin embargo, Lima queda rezagada en este aspecto. Por consiguiente, esta investigación pretende demostrar que la propuesta de establecer un nuevo museo de artes visuales en la ciudad es una iniciativa que generará diversos beneficios para la sociedad y el país en su conjunto. El estudio se inicia con un análisis de los museos actuales en Lima, considerando que la ciudad será la sede del museo propuesto, con un enfoque particular en el Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) y el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC). Además, se examina el distrito de San Borja como ubicación potencial para el nuevo museo. Se descubre que esta zona cuenta con un plan cultural que busca potenciar el eje cultural conformado por el Centro de Convenciones, el Museo de la Nación, el Teatro Nacional y la Biblioteca Nacional. Se propone que la adición de un nuevo museo en este eje cultural no solo enriquecerá la oferta cultural de Lima, sino que también suplirá una necesidad importante que actualmente carecen estos edificios: un espacio público adecuado. La creación de una zona pública con parques, áreas de paseo y espacios de recreación puede revitalizar significativamente la zona, convirtiéndola en un punto focal tanto para residentes locales como para visitantes.

This research focuses on understanding the current situation of art museums at the national level, with special attention to the city of Lima. It aims to identify the existing cultural infrastructure and explore the potential of adding a new program in this sector to boost both the cultural and touristic aspects of the city. Globally, and particularly in comparison with other major cities in Latin America, there exists a certain amount of cultural infrastructure including museums, exhibition halls, theaters, and stadiums. However, Lima lags behind in this aspect. Therefore, this research seeks to demonstrate that proposing to establish a new visual arts museum in the city is an initiative that will generate various benefits for society and the country as a whole. The study begins with an analysis of the current museums in Lima, considering that the city will be the venue for the proposed museum, with a particular focus on the Museum of Art of Lima (MALI) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC). Additionally, the district of San Borja is examined as a potential location for the new museum. It is discovered that this area has a cultural plan aimed at enhancing the cultural axis formed by the Convention Center, the National Museum, the National Theater, and the National Library. It is proposed that the addition of a new museum in this cultural axis will not only enrich Lima's cultural offerings but also address an important need currently lacking in these buildings: adequate public space. The creation of a public area with parks, walking areas, and recreational spaces can significantly revitalize the area, making it a focal point for both local residents and visitors.
