Integrating lean and TPM for process efficiency improvement in peruvian textile SMES: a case study in sewing line optimization

Abstract

The research, which has been carried out in this repository, focuses on optimizing operations within the sewing line in a Peruvian SMEs in the textile sector. In the same way, the Lean Manufacturing and TPM tools used in the study, within this small company, managed to implement significant improvements in the procedures of the sewing line. Reducing machine configuration times and optimizing production times are some of the objectives of this repository, using linear programming and the SMED method, it has been possible to exceed the expected indicators. Likewise, this repository seeks to promote the knowledge and theory of Lean and TPM in Peruvian SMEs. The results of the study showed the efficiency of sewing, improving by 26.80%; as well as configuration times decreased by 30.97%; Finally, machine downtimes decreased by 33.83%. In conclusion, this research seeks to motivate competition and sustainable growth of the Peruvian textile sector, encourages further research on Lean and TPM tools, to continue improving efficiency in operational processes.

La investigación que se ha llevado a cabo en el presente repositorio, se enfoca en optimizar las operaciones dentro de la línea de costura en una pyme peruana del sector textil, a través de las herramientas del Lean Manufacturing y TPM que se utilizan en el estudio. Dentro de esta pequeña empresa, se logró implementar mejoras significantes en los procedimientos de la línea de costura, reducir los tiempos de configuración de las máquinas y optimizar los tiempos de producción que son algunos de los objetivos del presente repositorio. Utilizando la programación lineal y el método SMED, se ha logrado sobrepasar los indicadores esperados. Asimismo, este repositorio busca promover el conocimiento y la teoría del Lean y el TPM en las pymes peruanas. Los resultados del estudio se mostraron en la eficiencia de la costura, mejorando en un 26.80%; así como también, los tiempos de configuración disminuyeron en un 30.97%; finalmente, los tiempos de inactividad de las máquinas descendieron en 33.83%. En conclusión, esta investigación busca motivar la competencia y el crecimiento sostenible del sector textil peruano, anima a seguir investigando sobre las herramientas del Lean y el TPM, en orden de seguir mejorando la eficiencia en los procesos operativos.
