Centro educativo para niños con discapacidad auditiva en Lurín

Abstract

El proyecto plantea el diseño de un Centro Educativo para niños con discapacidad auditiva en el distrito de Lurín, con el propósito de reducir el déficit de infraestructura especializada en los distritos del sur de Lima y elevar la calidad del entorno educativo a través de una arquitectura que responda verdaderamente a las capacidades y formas de aprendizaje de los niños con discapacidad auditiva. Actualmente, la oferta educativa para esta población es limitada y responde a tipologías estandarizadas que no consideran sus necesidades particulares. Frente a ello, esta propuesta se estructura a partir de tres conceptos clave: la accesibilidad universal, la arquitectura sensorial y el carácter educativo del espacio. Estos principios guían el diseño hacia una experiencia de aprendizaje integral, basada en la estimulación de los sentidos predominantes en los usuarios; la vista y el tacto; promoviendo una educación autónoma, activa y significativa. Además, el proyecto busca resaltar su escala barrial e integrarse con el tejido urbano y social, implantándose en un terreno baldío y convirtiéndose en un nodo comunitario activo. Se plantea un programa complementario abierto a la comunidad, que incluye talleres de lengua de señas peruana, así como espacios públicos, culturales, de esparcimiento y comercio local. Esta apertura del equipamiento educativo a la comunidad tiene como fin promover la integración real de la comunidad con discapacidad auditiva en el barrio, revalorando su cultura y facilitando la interacción cotidiana con el resto de la población. De este modo, el proyecto no solo resuelve una necesidad funcional, sino que propone una arquitectura transformadora, que educa, comunica e integra desde la forma en que se vive el espacio.

The project proposes the design of an Educational Center for children with hearing impairments in the Lurín district, with the aim of reducing the shortage of specialized infrastructure in the southern districts of Lima and improving the quality of the educational environment through architecture that truly responds to the abilities and learning styles of children with hearing impairments. Currently, the educational options for this population are limited and rely on standardized models that do not consider their specific needs. In response, this proposal is structured around three key concepts: universal accessibility, sensory architecture, and the educational nature of the space. These principles guide the design toward a holistic learning experience, based on stimulating the users' predominant senses: sight and touch; promoting autonomous, active, and meaningful learning. Furthermore, the project seeks to emphasize its neighborhood scale and integrate with the urban and social fabric, being built on a vacant lot and becoming an active community hub. A complementary program open to the community is planned, including Peruvian Sign Language workshops, as well as public, cultural, recreational, and local commercial spaces. This opening of the educational facility to the community aims to promote the genuine integration of the hearing-impaired community into the neighborhood, revaluing their culture and facilitating daily interaction with the rest of the population. In this way, the project not only addresses a functional need but also proposes a transformative architecture that educates, communicates, and integrates through the way the space is experienced.
