Infraestructura sobre juncos

Abstract

Como proyecto final de carrera, se planteó desarrollar una infraestructura recreativa en los humedales de Ventanilla, con el objetivo de contribuir a la mejora del ecosistema del pantano y su relación con el entorno urbano, dado que este ha experimentado una degradación significativa y rápida con el paso de los años. A nivel del master plan, se buscaron generar diversos puntos estratégicos que permitieran conectar de manera continua y cohesionada el borde fragmentado y discontinuo entre el humedal y el contexto urbano, a través de caminos y espacios de permanencia que promuevan una pausa y mirada hacia el ecosistema del humedal y fomenten las interacciones sociales. Como toma de partido, se buscó contribuir a la preservación del ecosistema del humedal y su entorno, lográndolo a partir de dos maneras. En primer lugar, se buscó visibilizar las dinámicas, actividades y procesos productivos del junco que ocurren en este medio natural, pero que en la actualidad son invisibles para la sociedad. Por otro lado, se implementó un sistema de mallas atrapanieblas en el exterior del edificio, con el propósito de aumentar la captación de humedad y promover el crecimiento del junco, una de las principales fuentes de purificación y oxigenación del humedal.

As a final year project, it was proposed to develop a recreational infrastructure in the Ventanilla wetlands, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the swamp ecosystem and its relationship with the urban environment, given that it has experienced a significant and rapid degradation over the years. As a master plan, we generated various strategic points around the wetland, that would allow the fragmented and discontinuous border between the wetland and the urban context to be connected in a continuous and cohesive manner, through paths and spaces of permanence, that promote a pause and look towards the wetland´s ecosystem and also encourage social interactions. As a starting point, we wanted to contribute to the preservation of the wetland´s ecosystem and its environment, achieving it in two ways. First, we sought to make visible the dynamics, activities and productive processes of the reed that occur in this natural environment, but that are currently invisible to society. On the other hand, a system of fog-catching meshes was implemented on the outside of the building, with the purpose of increasing humidity capture and promoting the growth of reeds, one of the main sources of purification and oxygenation of the wetland.
