Residencia universitaria en el Centro Histórico de Lima

Abstract

Este proyecto plantea la creación de una residencia universitaria que no solo les de un techo a sus usuarios, sino que también los ayude a insertarse en su nueva vida lejos del hogar familiar y en una de las metrópolis mas grandes de Latinoamérica. Las universidades públicas que reciben mayor número de estudiantes se encuentran en el Rímac y en Cercado de Lima es por eso que se plantea la ubicación de la residencia en el Centro Histórico de Lima (CHL). Esta decisión está también apoyada en el hecho de que la mayoría de la población del CHL es flotante y fuera del horario comercial, las calles vacías y el poco movimiento lo hacen un lugar inseguro y descuidado. El proyecto tendrá como propósito satisfacer parte de la demanda existente con una residencia que cubra las necesidades de un estudiante universitario que llega solo de otra ciudad. Más allá de ofrecer una cama, la residencia debe ser un espacio donde el estudiante universitario pueda desarrollarse y crecer de manera independiente hasta que llegue a un punto donde esté preparado para alquilar un departamento solo o compartido. Al ubicarse en un contexto histórico, el proyecto es diseñado según las características identificadas en el entorno. Se respetan alturas, lenguajes de fachada, colores y otros aspectos importantes para que el proyecto sea un elemento que sume a la dinámica del centro histórico de Lima respetando su historia y carácter. A corto plazo, la residencia busca atender una demanda de vivienda insatisfecha y crear un modelo de residencia que se pueda replicar en otras áreas de Lima. A largo plazo y para el caso específico del Centro, se busca que las personas que vivan en la residencia se acostumbren a vivir en un contexto histórico, se familiaricen con él y cuando llegue el momento de elegir donde vivir permanentemente puedan considerar hacerlo en el CHL.

Year after year, a great number of teenagers migrate to the city of Lima to attend college. This results in the emergence of “pensions” for students, a housing modality that gives very few liberties to their users and borders on informality. This project poses the creation of a student residence that not only puts a roof over the head of its users but it also helps them get adjusted to their new life away from the family home and in one of the biggest metropolies in latin america. The public universities that receive the most number of students from provinces are located in the district of Rimac and Cercado de Lima, that is why I propose to locate the residence in the Historical Center of Lima. This decision is reinforced by the fact that most of the population of the historical center is floating and outside of the commercial hours, the empty streets and the little movement make the center of Lima an insecure and uncomfortable place to be. The project’s purpose will be to satisfy part of the exisiting demand for student housing. It’s not only about providing a bed, the residence must be a space where a student can develop and grow in an independent manner until he or she is ready to move to an apartment either alone or with roomates. Because it’s located in an historical context, the project is designed according to the characteristics of the area. Heights, the language of the facades, colors and other aspects must be considered so that the project contributes to the dynamic of the historical center respecting its history and personality. Short term, the residence aims to attend the unsatisfied demand for student housing and to create a new model of residence that could be replicated in other areas of Lima. Long term, and regarding the state of the historical center, the purpose of the residence is that the people that will inhabit it could get used to living in an historical center, become familiar with it and once it’s time to search for a permanent house to live in, they could consider doing it in the historical center.
