Depresión perinatal y vínculo madre-bebé

Abstract

Las altas tasas reportadas de depresión durante el embarazo y el postparto alertan sobre la necesidad de conocer la relación entre la depresión perinatal y el vínculo madre-bebé, a través de una revisión aplicada de los trabajos que relacionan dichas variables. Se realizó una búsqueda siguiendo los lineamientos de la guía PRISMA (Urrútia y Bonfill, 2010) en las bases de datos electrónicas APA PsycNet, Psicodoc, Scopus, ProQuest, Scielo, Springer Psychology y ScienceDirect donde se seleccionaron para el análisis los trabajos cuantitativos que evaluaban la depresión perinatal y el vínculo madre-bebé. Los resultados muestran que la depresión perinatal genera un impacto negativo en el vínculo madre-bebé y en el desarrollo socioemocional del niño. La mayoría de las investigaciones utilizaron el Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) para medir la depresión, mientras que se encontró mayor variedad de instrumentos utilizados para evaluar el vínculo madre-bebé. En conclusión, existe una relación entre la depresión perinatal y el vínculo madre-bebé. Además, las investigaciones consultadas señalan que el vínculo madre-bebé se ve igualmente afectado cuando la depresión se manifiesta en la etapa prenatal y/o postparto.

The high reported rates of depression during pregnancy and postpartum alert about the need to understand the relation between perinatal depression and the impact on the mother-infant bond, through a review applied to the studies that relate these variables. A search was carried out following the guidelines of the PRISMA guide (Urrútia and Bonfill, 2010), consulting the following electronic databases: APA PsycNet, Psicodoc, Scopus, ProQuest, Scielo, Springer Psychology and ScienceDirect and the quantitative studies that were selected for the analysis evaluated perinatal depression and the motherinfant bond. The results show that perinatal depression has a negative impact on the mother-infant bond and on the child's social-emotional development. Most of the investigations used the Edinburgh Postpartum Questionnaire (EPDS) to measure depression, while a greater variety of instruments were found to evaluate the motherinfant bond. In conclusion, there is a relationship between perinatal depression and the mother-infant bond. In addition, the consulted research indicates that the mother-infant bond is equally affected when depression manifests in the prenatal and/or postpartum stage.
