La relación entre la inteligencia emocional y el síndrome de burnout en profesores de educación básica

Abstract

El sistema educativo fue uno de los ámbitos que sufrió mayores cambios durante la pandemia del COVID – 19, generando que tanto docentes como estudiantes se adapten a nuevos métodos de enseñanza-aprendizaje, y teniendo como consecuencia niveles altos de estrés en los educadores, quienes afrontan estas situaciones haciendo uso de habilidades socioemocionales, como la inteligencia emocional, con el objetivo de hacer frente a las demandas laborales. En ese marco, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la relación entre el burnout y la inteligencia emocional en docentes de nivel escolar en el periodo de la pandemia del COVID – 19; mediante un análisis de los estudios cuantitativos que se publicaron en los años comprendidos de 2021 al 2024. Se usa la guía PRISMA para orientar la metodología del estudio, se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos Scopus y Web of Science. Se identificaron 216 estudios; y considerando criterios de inclusión y exclusión se seleccionaron 10 investigaciones cuantitativas. Los resultados demuestran la existencia de una correlación negativa y significativa entre ambas variables. En la mayoría de casos la inteligencia emocional cumple un rol protector sobre el burnout.

The educational system was one of the areas that underwent the greatest changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, causing both teachers and students to adapt to new teaching-learning methods, and resulting in high levels of stress in educators, who face these situations using socio-emotional skills, such as emotional intelligence, to cope with job demands. Therefore, the present study aims to determine the relationship between burnout and emotional intelligence in school-level teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic period; through an analysis of quantitative studies that were published in the years from 2021 to 2024. The PRISMA guide is used to conduct the methodology of this study, our research was carried out in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. 216 studies were identified; and considering inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 quantitative investigations were selected. The results demonstrate the existence of a negative and significant correlation between both variables. In most cases, emotional intelligence plays a protective role against burnout.
