Relación entre funcionamiento familiar y ansiedad en niños y adolescentes

Abstract

Durante los últimos años, la ansiedad en niños y adolescentes ha mostrado un incremento, posicionándose como una de las afecciones psicológicas con mayor incidencia. Durante dichas etapas de crecimiento y transición, el contexto familiar resulta relevante. Por ello, se plantea como objetivo identificar, a partir de la evidencia disponible, la relación entre el funcionamiento familiar y la ansiedad en niños y adolescentes. Se llevó a cabo una revisión aplicada de acuerdo con las directrices PRISMA, mediante la búsqueda de artículos en Scopus y Web of Science entre los años 2016 y 2026. Se escogieron 10 artículos que satisficieron los parámetros de selección previamente definidos. Los hallazgos evidenciaron una relación significativa entre el funcionamiento familiar y la ansiedad, manifestada tanto en análisis correlacionales como en modelos predictivos y explicativos. Se destaca la importancia de seguir indagando dicha problemática, sobre todo en poblaciones de niños. Además, se sugiere integrar el funcionamiento familiar en la valoración, prevención y abordaje de la ansiedad de la población objetivo, considerando el rol de otros factores personales, emocionales y cognitivos influyentes.

During recent years, anxiety in children and adolescents has increased, becoming one of the psychological conditions with the highest incidence. During these critical stages of development and transition, the family context plays a central role. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine, based on available evidence, the relationship between anxiety and family functioning in this population. The study adhered to the PRISMA framework to ensure methodological rigor. Relevant literature published between 2016 and 2026 was identified through database searches in Scopus and Web of Science. After applying the eligibility criteria, ten studies were deemed suitable and were ultimately included in the review. The results indicated a significant relationship between anxiety and family functioning, evidenced in correlational analyses as well as in predictive and explanatory models. The importance of continuing to investigate this issue is highlighted, particularly in child populations. Furthermore, it is suggested to integrate family functioning into the assessment, prevention and treatment of anxiety in children and adolescents, while also acknowledging the influence of additional individual traits, affective components, and thinking patterns.
