Relación entre el funcionamiento familiar y los síntomas del trastorno por atracón en adolescentes

Abstract

La relación entre el funcionamiento familiar y los síntomas del trastorno por atracón en adolescentes ha sido escasamente estudiada, tanto en el ámbito clínico como en el investigativo, a pesar de su importancia como factor clave de la salud mental adolescente y su posible influencia en los atracones. El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar y establecer la relación existente entre el funcionamiento familiar y los síntomas del trastorno por atracón. Para ello, se llevó a cabo una revisión aplicada siguiendo los lineamientos PRISMA, mediante la búsqueda de estudios en las bases de datos PubMed, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate y Web of Science, considerando publicaciones desde el año 2012 en adelante. Se identificaron un total de 10 artículos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión previamente establecidos. Los resultados mostraron discrepancias entre los estudios analizados: algunos reportaron una relación significativa entre el funcionamiento familiar y los síntomas del TPA o su diagnóstico formal, mientras que otros no evidenciaron una asociación significativa. En base a estos hallazgos, se resalta la necesidad de continuar investigando esta relación, así como de incorporar el funcionamiento familiar en la evaluación, prevención e intervención del trastorno por atracón.

The relationship between family functioning and binge eating disorder symptoms in adolescents remains underexplored in both clinical and research contexts, despite its pivotal role as a determinant of adolescent mental health and its potential influence on binge eating. The objective of this study was to analyze and establish the relationship between family functioning and binge eating disorder symptoms. To this end, an applied review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines, searching the PubMed, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, and Web of Science databases for studies published from 2012 onward. A total of 10 articles were identified that met the pre-established inclusion criteria. The results revealed inconsistencies across studies: whereas some identified a significant association between family functioning and binge eating symptoms or a formal binge eating disorder diagnosis, others did not find evidence of a significant relationship. Based on these findings, further research into this relationship is warranted, alongside the integration of family functioning in to the assessment, prevention, and treatment of binge-eating disorder.
