La fibra óptica: "Canales de luz" Una revolución en comunicaciones
Abstract
La fibra óptica ha logrado revolucionar el campo de las comunicaciones. La idea del uso de la luz en las comunicaciones a distancia es muy antigua y sus posibilidades son infinitas. La transmisión de señales utiliza las fibras ópticas. La fibra óptica es un haz que se genera a partir de tierras raras como el sílice, formando una hebra de vidrio muy delgada de un diámetro aproximado de 0.2 milímetros. La fibra óptica tiene la propiedad de transmitir sin interferencias de ningún tipo las señales de luz emitidas, alcanzando una gran potencia y, especialmente, rapidez de transmisión.
